TRAINING OPTIONS
We understand that in your role as program administrator, you are responsible for providing product information and rolling out access to our electronic resources to your staff. Here are recommendations, not only based on our experience with customers but also suggestions from customers which they felt were successful. We hope you will be able to utilize some or all these recommended methods. Good Luck!
Getting Started
- Send the suggested announcement email to all medical staff with instructions on how to access the
services
- Provide a copy to your institution's internal marketing or PR department for inclusion in the next staff
newsletter
- Highlight the service as a new feature on your Intranet
- Post flyers in all of the physician and staff lounges
- Distribute Introductory Guides and Quick Reference Cards to each station/department throughout the
hospital
- Work with the Medical Staff Office to include MD Consult and FIRSTConsult information in all new hire and
resident material
Training Ideas
- Small Group Training
- Audience: 3-5 users, invite various department leads who can take information back to the user population
- Using the CD Presentation provided in your Welcome Kit briefly cover each service area and advanced
searching techniques
- Provide user with promotional material to take back to the department
- Explanation of how to access the products should be covered
- Approximate time: 60 minutes
- MD Consult/FIRSTConsult Open House
- Table display in common staff area for users to pick up literature, view a short demo, and ask questions
about the products
- Provide snacks and premium items for individuals who stop by the display
- Raffle a prize to those who stop by and watch a demo
- Posters and sample announcements should be sent to help promote the Open House
- Explanation of how to access the products should be covered
- Approximate time: 3-6 hours
- End User Training Session
- Formal presentation to end users including a live demonstration on MD Consult and/or FIRSTConsult
- Recommend providing a meal during the presentation
- Can utilize the CD presentation provided in the Welcome Kit or use the "live" service if internet connection
is available
- Q & A session to follow presentation
- Posters and sample announcements should be sent to help promote the training session
- If all users have access to a computer terminal, an in-depth "quiz" can be given which allows users to
become familiar with the product(s)
- Explanation of how to access the products should be covered
- Technical requirements: internet connection, LCD projector and screen
- Web Seminars
- Virtual classroom that enables the most interactive and effective live, online training
- Allows users in multiple location see, hear, chat, present, and share information collaboratively from their
own desktops
- Technical requirements: internet connection, telephone
- Approximate time: 1 hour
